Crampon locks let you have the best of both worlds. Dynamic when you want the ski crampon to be able to rotate up for efficiency and locked for a static mode to get maximum grip. Can be changed on the fly? without getting out of bindings by just reaching down to engage and disengage. These should only be used with B & D crampons as most other crampons have a taper on the back that can damage the lock.
